Scott joplin is a pianist but also an Afro American composer who was born

on November 24, 1868 in Texarkana and died on April 1, 1917 in New York.

I will first explain to you how Scott Joplin started in music, he first wanted to play the piano because he was fascinated by the piano of one of his neighbors and he started to play this instrument from the age of 8.

So he started playing the piano and learned the basics of piano without

teacher or method. The German professor Julius Weiss was aware of the

talent of Scott Joplin and offered him a piano as well as piano lessons.

The musical work I have chosen is "The Easy Winners", the title of the

composition refers to athletes who easily win a sporting event. The cover depicts

baseball, football, horse racing and sailing scenes .

I chose this work because it is one of his most popular works and it was one

of the four recorded in 1940.

The musical structure of this work is a classic balance between its strains, its

moods and in its progression of its quiet softness.
